We are looking for a highly motivated Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our team and work closely with the Fynd eCommerce platform ecosystem. This role offers an opportunity to work on large-scale retail and commerce implementations supporting enterprise retailers, omnichannel operations, and modern commerce technologies.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in both manual and automation testing, along with practical experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve testing efficiency, automation coverage, defect analysis, and overall product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering & Testing
- Participate actively throughout the software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design reviews, development support, testing, release validation, and deployment activities.
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on business and technical requirements.
- Perform manual and automated testing across web applications, APIs, integrations, and backend systems.
- Create and maintain reusable automation frameworks and test suites.
- Validate functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing requirements.
- Identify automation opportunities and continuously improve automation coverage.
Automation & Framework Development
- Build and maintain scalable UI and API automation frameworks.
- Develop automated scripts for frontend, backend, and API testing.
- Implement pre-execution setup, environment preparation, and post-execution validation processes.
- Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validation.
- Support parallel execution, cross-browser testing, and cloud-based test execution environments.
Defect Analysis & Troubleshooting
- Investigate application issues by analyzing logs, network requests, API responses, and database records.
- Perform preliminary root cause analysis and collaborate with developers for issue resolution.
- Track, manage, and report defects using standard defect management tools.
- Ensure timely resolution of critical production and pre-production issues.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with developers, architects, product managers, and business stakeholders.
- Understand application architecture, system integrations, data flows, and deployment processes.
- Create and maintain QA documentation including test plans, test strategy documents, automation reports, and release sign-offs.
- Participate in sprint planning, grooming sessions, and release readiness reviews.
AI-Assisted Testing
- Utilize AI and GenAI tools to enhance test case generation, automation development, debugging, and defect analysis.
- Use AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar platforms to improve productivity.
- Validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, consistency, relevance, and potential hallucinations.
- Apply prompt engineering techniques to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and modern programming concepts.
- 3+ years of professional experience in software testing and quality engineering.
- Strong understanding of web application architecture and API testing.
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as:
- Playwright
- Selenium WebDriver
- Experience with automation frameworks such as:
- Jest
- Mocha
- TestNG or equivalent frameworks
- Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP protocols, and API validation techniques.
- Strong SQL skills for backend validation and data verification.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Tools & Platforms
- Jira, Asana, or similar project management and defect tracking tools.
- Confluence or similar documentation platforms.
- Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
- BrowserStack, LambdaTest, Sauce Labs, Selenium Grid, or equivalent testing platforms.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments.
- Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing UI and API automation frameworks from scratch.
- Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience performing load, performance, and stress testing.
- Experience managing test environments and deployment validations independently.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
- Understanding of Docker, containerized environments, and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with cross-browser and cross-platform testing methodologies.
- Understanding of web technologies, distributed systems, and three-tier architecture.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or related technical discipline.
